Curiosity, persistence, and a structured mindset have always guided me—especially in pursuits that challenge and inspire me. My relationship with photography began at age six, armed with a Kodak Instamatic and a determination to understand the mysterious 126-film cartridge. By the mid-1970s, I was capturing family moments on Super 8 film and later transitioned through evolving video formats, preserving decades of personal history.
In 1992, with an APS film SLR, I began to realise that my photography was rooted in personal values: people, place, memory, and meaning. I developed my practice through self-learning—refining my understanding of light, composition, and techniques such as polarisation, focus stacking, flash, and digital post-processing.
I am currently based in both Surrey, UK and Lisbon, Portugal, having left Brazil in 1992 to pursue a life and career that has since spanned multiple countries and cultures, naturally shaping a documentary and observational approach. Capturing everyday life and spontaneous moments became my way of connecting with the world.
I draw inspiration from photographers like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Sebastião Salgado, and Ansel Adams—each of whom reflects a unique sensitivity to subject, context, and visual storytelling.
My Practice
Street, Documentary, Cityscape, and Street Portraits
These are the core of my work. I aim to reflect real life—capturing people and places as they are, in the moment. Monochrome is often my preferred language for expression.
